Astrid B. Arvidson

August 20, 1938 — July 17, 2017

Astrid Louise Ellen (Berglund) Arvidson, 78, of Dublin, NH, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord with her family by her side on July 17, 2017, from complications associated with cancer. She was born at home on August 20, 1938, in Walpole, MA, to Thor and Helga Berglund.

Louise grew up in the United Church of Norwood. She graduated in 1956 from Norwood High school, and went on to Chandler Secretarial School. She was a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls and carried her Rainbow bible at her wedding. After marrying she moved to Norfolk, MA, where she was a full time mother, homemaker, and member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She retired with her husband to Dublin, NH, in 1994, where she became a member of the Mountain View Bible Church in Dublin. She enjoyed Scandinavian and square dancing, holding memberships with the Nordic Lodge #611 in Shrewsbury, MA; Sovittaja Park, Rutland, MA; Square Dance Foundation of New England; Revontulet Dancers of Jaffrey, NH; Monadnock Squares; and Cloud Busters of Peterborough, NH. She and her husband often dressed in traditional Scandinavian costume to demonstrate and teach others to dance. Throughout her life, Louise collected dolls, Shirley Temple movies, and loved to iron everything from doilies to hand-washed dollar bills. Louise delighted in the pageantry and celebration of Scandinavian mid-summer, holidays, birthdays, and most of all spending time with her family.

Louise is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Carl R. Arvidson, her three sons and their wives: Lars and Patty of Jaffrey, NH; Nils and Theresa of Foxboro, MA; Leif and Deb of Harrisville, NH, five grandchildren: Erik and Jen Arvidson of Swanzey, NH; Hannah and Alex Trombly of Keene, NH; Trey Arvidson of Jaffrey, NH; Brea Arvidson of West Boylston, MA; Tori Arvidson of Richmond, VA, and two great-grandchildren Jacob and Hailey Arvidson. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Bertil and Leona Berglund of North Easton, MA; her sister Helen Markren of Mashpee, MA; and her sister-in-law Sandra Berglund of West Gardiner, ME. She was predeceased by her brother Erling Berglund.

A service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Mountain View Bible Church, 81 Page Road in Dublin, NH. The burial will be private.
