Janet A. Sullivan

Janet A. (Salway) Sullivan, 80, of Jaffrey, NH, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a long illness.

Janet was born on June 24, 1936, in Cambridge, MA, daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret (McLellan) Salway, and the beloved wife of the late Edward “Skip” Sullivan.

She attended St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge, MA. In her early years, she worked as an operator at Bell Telephone Company in Boston, MA. She spent many years as a devoted wife and mother and continued her career in the accounting department at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. In her retirement years, she worked as an assistant at Jaffrey Parks and Recreation Department. In addition, she was an avid volunteer at the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce. In addition to living in Cambridge, Janet also lived in Brighton and Belmont, MA, until retiring and moving to Jaffrey in 1989. Later years in life, she lived at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Jaffrey, enjoying lots of activities on a daily basis.

Janet enjoyed her retirement years traveling on senior citizen trips and camping. In addition, she enjoyed antique cars and was secretary/treasurer of the Monadnock Oldies Car Club in Jaffrey. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her daughters Joan Sullivan of Brighton, MA, Paula Blanchard and husband Ralph of Bel Air, MD, and Donna Green and husband Sean of Medway, MA; her sons Edward Sullivan, Jr. of Jaffrey, NH, and John Sullivan of Needham, MA; grandchildren, Timothy and wife Karey (Pooton), Brittany, and Kayla Blanchard, and Mason Green; her sisters Judith DiPietro of N. Miami Beach, FL, and Nancy Kaplan of New Bern, NC; her brothers Bernard Salway of Woburn, MA., and James Salway of Port Orchard, WA,; and extended family and friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Teresa and Duncan Salway.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Rte. 202), Jaffrey, NH 03452.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Good Shepherd Activities Fund, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
