Eleanor M. Scholl, 87, of Jaffrey, died Tuesday January 19, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center in Jaffrey after a period of failing health.
Mrs. Scholl was born on October 3, 1922 in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Leslie G. and Nellie L. (Clapp) Coffin. She attended Murdock High School and had lived in Hubbardston, MA, Rindge, NH, Beecher, Ill. and Ware, MA.
Mrs. Scholl was a fine furniture finisher and had worked at Heywood Wakefield in Gardner, MA until retiring in 1972. She had belonged to the United Furniture Workers of America, AFL/CIO, and a proud member of the Congregational Church in Rindge, NH.
Mrs. Scholl enjoyed dancing, camping, canoeing and fishing through the back woods of Maine. She was also considered a dare devil by some, as she loved flying and motorcycling. At home, she spent time playing her organ, watching the Red Sox and snuggling with her German Shepherds ‘Major’ and ‘Minor’.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren Scholl Jr. on May 8, 1979. Her step-father, Harold Savage; sister, Dorothy Raymond; brothers, Leslie Coffin, Jr., Lyle Savage and Philip Savage; and her niece Judy Tieger, all died earlier.
Mrs. Scholl is survived by her step-daughter Stevi Corte and her family of Westborough, MA; her foster brother, Bruce Hall of Rindge, NH; her nieces, Joan DeGrandpre of Rindge and Jean Raymond of Jaffrey; and many grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces, great-grand-nephews, cousins and friends.
