Barbara Joan Allen

May 23, 1932 — May 8, 2011

Barbara Joan Allen died on her day, Mothers Day, May 8th, 2011 surrounded by her children and the extraordinary staff at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH. She was 78 years young.
Joan was a dynamo who remained tireless until a few days before her death. She had many hobbies and was always ready to try something new. In recent years, she enjoyed taking road trips with her son John on his Harley. Young and old loved her. She always believed that we inevitably grow old on the outside, but ones inner spirit never needs to age. She had a quick wit and a kind heart, and even in her final days, managed to make people smile and relax during some difficult moments.
Wherever Joan ventured, she made many friends along the way. She worked with and supported many charities, but held her fondest memories with the Lions Club. She will be missed by her bowling buddies and The Kids in Merrimack and her many friends in Jaffrey, Wilton and Massachusetts who supported her to the end.
Joan is survived by five children; Bruce of Cotuit, MA., Susan Chambers of Punta Gorda, Fl., John of Jaffrey, N.H., Linda of Northampton, MA., and Annmarie and Christopher DelRossi and their two children, Aubrey and Ethan Pine, all of North Chelmsford, MA. Also surviving are her dear cousins, Mary and Hector LaPlante and their children of Rhode Island .

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent in loving memory of her to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH. 03054 or online at www.hhhc.org.

Joan wished that no formal services be held.
