Benjamin Lewis Bullock III

October 11, 1940 — February 5, 2017

Benjamin Lewis Bullock III passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2017 after a short but resolute battle with cancer.

Ben was born on October 11, 1940 in Manchester By-The-Sea, Massachusetts. He graduated from Story High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Navy where he served for three years.

He married Frances Baker in 1963. They moved to Fitzwilliam, N.H., in 1967, where they lived for the next 50 years.

Ben was a hard-working jack of all trades, and excelled at learning new skills. From an early age he worked in his parent’s grocery store. While in the Navy he served all over the world in the #6 and #8 Mobile Construction Battalions. After leaving the Navy, his jobs ranged from bus driver to oil burner repair to well drilling. In 1977 he began working for the Boston and Maine Railroad as a maintenance away mechanic. He retired from the railroad in 2002.

All during this time, he nurtured his love of gardening, which developed into Bullock’s Farmstand in the early 1980s. Well known for their quality plants, fruits, vegetables, and berries, Ben and Frances operated the farmstand for almost 40 years together.

Ben is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Frances Baker Bullock and his daughters: Amanda Moran and her husband Tom Moran of Fitzwilliam; Sarah Bullock Glaholt, Pharm.D. and her husband Corry Glaholt of Ravenel, S.C.; Rebeckah Bullock and her husband Richard Brackett of Fitzwilliam; and Hannah Bullock, Ph.D. and her husband Norman Hassell III of Johns Creek, G.A. Ben is also survived by his sister, Molly Davis and her husband Bill Davis of Edmonds, W.A., and his brother Gordon Bullock of Fitzwilliam, and by his grandchildren: Ethan Moran, Seth Moran, Rian Glaholt, and Ben Glaholt. Ben will also be missed by his beloved basset hound, Gwendolyn. Ben was predeceased by his parents and his brother John Bullock.

There will be a private family service with military honors in Manchester By-The-Sea at a later date. Donations can be made in Ben’s name to: Fitzwilliam Ambulance Fund c/o Fitzwilliam Fire Department, P.O. Box 515, Fitzwilliam, N.H. 03447 or the New Hampshire Farm Bureau 295 Sheep Davis Road, Concord, N.H. 03301
