Bertha B Bourque

Bertha B. Bourque, 87, of Stratton Road, Jaffrey passed away peacefully Wednesday June 11, 2014 at the Summerhill Assisted Living Center in Peterborough.

She was born on September 1, 1926 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Ernest and Laura (DuFort) Belletete. She was a 1945 graduate of Conant High School.

Bertha originally worked for her grandfather at his grocery store. She eventually became a bookkeeper and worked in the Finance Department at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough for 7 years. She was one of the original certified crossing guards in Jaffrey and helped multiple generations of families and local schoolchildren across the busy intersections downtown for over 25 years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church and an active member of the former Ste. Anne Society of St. Patrick Parish. She enjoyed spending winters with her husband in Florida and in her free time, Bertha enjoyed playing golf and tending her flower gardens.

Bertha was predeceased by her Husband Leo J. Bourque on July 15, 2009, and by her brothers, Donald Belletete on October 13, 1983, and Norman Belletete on October 17, 2006.

She is survived by her son Gary Bourque of Leominster, MA, her daughter Holly and her husband Michael Reinhard of Enfield, CT., five grandchildren; Gregory Bourque, Glenn Bourque, Scott Bourque, Sarah Reinhard and Jennifer Reinhard; one great grandson and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10:00AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
