Betty M. Lindhe

Betty M. Lindhe, 88, of Keene, NH, died March 5, 2014 in the presence of family and friends at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston, SC after a brief illness while wintering in Myrtle Beach.

She was born April 26, 1925 in Bayonne, New Jersey, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Graham) Fritz.

She has been a resident of the Monadnock region since 1968.

Betty was a 1942 Graduate of Lincoln High School in Jersey City, NJ. She attended Rutgers University, Butler University and Northeastern University before receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Keene State College at the age of 55.

She was an avid reader her entire life and passed along her love of reading and books as the school librarian at Peterborough Elementary School for 19 years.

A supporter of education, she held a leadership role in the NH teachers union and, later, was active in the Retired Teachers Association.

She loved music and sang in her church choir for many years and was a member of the Keene Senior Swingers.

She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Richard Lindhe, who died June 21, 2005.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan Lindhe of Glenville NY and Pamela Lindhe of Boston, MA; her three sons, William Robbitts and wife Theresa of Fitzwilliam, NH, Richard Lindhe and wife Cathleen of Elkhart Ind., John Lindhe of Malden, MA; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and 5 nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

She will be buried with her husband at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen in a private ceremony which will be held at the convenience of the family.
