Carol E. Carter

December 23, 1936 — July 18, 2018

Carol E. Carter, widow of Richard H. Carter, was joyfully reunited with her husband upon her passing on July 18, 2018 in Worcester, MA. Carol was born in Lawrence, MA on Dec 23, 1936 to Clifford and Grace Feather, the third of their four children. While Carol was in Grade School her father was transferred to Carrboro, NC by Pacific Mills Textiles to open a new textile plant. The family relocated and learned to adapt to small town life (countless games of Scrabble and Bridge) whilst sipping sweet tea. After graduating High School, while waitressing at the local diner, she met the love of her life, Richard Carter. Rich was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. The two were married and embarked on an adventurous life of crisscrossing the United States from NC to MA to ME to CA to Central America and the Panama Canal Zone. While Richard was stationed in Germany, they left their footprints in Austria, the Swiss Alps, France, Italy, and Spain. They shared interests in Mom & Pop book stores, bowling, reading detective novels, card games, and crossword puzzles. Carol loved jigsaw puzzles and completed a countless number of them (no limit to the number of pieces –just no 3D please). She was an active member of 10th Special Forces Group Non-Commissioned Officers Wives Club. She returned to school and became a certified Dental Hygienist and worked for a few dental practices in Lynn, MA. Her interest in dentistry never faded and she saw to it that each of her grandchildren wore braces.

Carol and Rich originally set their sights on Fitzwilliam, NH in the mid 1970’s and purchased a parcel of land. After raising their 3 sons and traveling both near and far they retired in Lynn, MA and finally in the 1990’s to Fitzwilliam in the house that Rich built. Moss was certainly not going to grow on them, as they attended graduations, school plays/musicals, and school concerts, parades of both Middle School and High School marching bands, T-ball and baseball games, Tae Kwon Do and Boy Scouting events for their grandchildren across New England. Carol was very proud to have two grandsons become Eagle Scouts.

After Rich passed away, Carol became involved in The Friendly Meals program in Troy, NH. She truly enjoyed her time socializing with the ladies, and developed solid friendships. She also attended the local VFW meat raffles. Carol was an avid Boston Celtic Basketball fan (Go Larry Bird!) and former Boston Celtic stock holder. As her health allowed she travelled on cruises with her siblings where they all enjoyed the slot machines and shore excursions.

Left behind to lovingly celebrate her life and devotion to family are her brother Clifford Feather (Jane), Cary, NC, her sister Joyce Olivieri (Tony) Menifee, CA. She leaves her 3 sons, Robert Carter (Lori), Ayer, MA, Thomas Carter (Lisa), Stafford Springs, CT and Kenneth Carter (Jennifer), Warwick, RI. Grandchildren: Stacy Robichaud (Brian), Heather Regal (Jason), Benjamin Carter, Adam Carter, Michael Carter, Daniel Carter, Matthew Carter, Ryan Cantino and Kimberly Cantino.. Great Grandchildren: Felicia, Autumn, Cody, Maisy, Madison, Bria and Jason Jr. Along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Carol was predeceased by her sister Christine Greene and brother-in-law Walter of Sanford, NC. and sister-in-law Willie Feather of Raleigh, NC.
