Carol E. Leighton

Carol E. Leighton, 73, of Peterborough, NH died at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 17, 2016.

She was born on March 3, 1943, in Clinton, MA a daughter of the late Harold and Catherine (Recor) Erickson.

Carol was raised and educated in New Ipswich, NH and graduated from Appleton Academy in 1961. She lived in Temple, NH and then in Peterborough where she has resided since 1979.
She married Bernie Woods on November 7, 1987.

Carol worked for many years in the Insurance business as a licensed agent and acted as the office manager for 25 years at Reade Insurance Agency, as well as 16 years at Bellows-Nichols Insurance Agency, making friends all throughout New Hampshire.

Carol enjoyed the ocean, beaches, sailing, and time spent with her pets. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren – Carol will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include her loving husband, Bernie Woods of Peterborough, her children; Erika Leighton of North Palm Beach, FL and Edgar L. Leighton and his wife Susan of Gloucester, RI, her loving grandchildren; Julia Leighton of FL, Clara and Emmett Leighton of RI and many niece’s nephews and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral service which will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH. Burial will follow in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawan, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Carol to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W Swanzey Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446.
