Charles H. Griswold, 94, of Hancock, New Hampshire, died peacefully Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the home of his daughter in Oyster Bay, New York.Born in Jaffrey, New Hampshire on June 19, 1915, he was the son of Charles H. and Rose M. Griswold. He was a graduate of Conant High School and the New England College of Pharmacy.He was a registered pharmacist and owned the Rexall Pharmacy in Jaffrey, NH. In addition, he was a director of the original Monadnock Bank and a trustee of the Jaffrey Public Library.He was a Veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the Army stationed in North Africa. He also served as a medic making transatlantic voyages on troop ships traveling back and forth to England.Charlie loved to read, cook and spend time with his family. He was known for his kindness and sense of humor.He was a widower and was married to Nancy Taylor Griswold for 50 years. He is survived by his three children Calvin A. Brown of Tilton, NH, Anne G. Peirce of Oyster Bay, NY and Charles H. Griswold, III of Andover, MA; his six grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Dr. Calvin A. Brown, Robert Brown, Elizabeth W. Cochrane, Sarah E. Griswold and Emily A. Griswold; and one great-grandchild, Calvin J. Brown. He is also survived by his good friend, Mrs. Richard Storrs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Charles H. and Nancy T. Griswold Scholarship Fund at Conant High School, 3 Conant Way, Jaffrey, NH 03452

There are no visiting hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH, followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, also in Jaffrey.
