Charles M. Turner, 92 died on May 7, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after a period of failing health.

Charles was born September 12, 1923 in Jaffrey, the son of the late Leon and Clara (Jackson) Turner. He attended Jaffrey schools and lived on the family farm until he entered the U.S. Army in December, 1949, serving actively during the Korean war until November, 1951.

Charles worked as a plumber for O.B. Peirce Co. of Peterborough for twenty-two years. After working for The MacDowell Colony for fifteen years he retired in 1993 as a member of the maintenance department.

His passion in life was spending time with his family. He conveyed his love and knowledge of nature, animals and the outdoors with his grandson and great grandson. They spent many hours together in his woodworking shop where Charles shared his talent for building furniture, birdhouses and garden ornaments. He and his wife Thelma volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program for 12 years.

His beloved wife Thelma passed on May 18, 2011. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Turner of Peterborough and Susan Monkton and her husband Cliff of Peterborough, a brother Raymond Turner and his wife Cynthia of Peterborough, a grandson Matthew Boyd and his wife Jennifer and great grandson Zackery Charles Boyd of Bennington, several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent in loving memory of him to Monadnock
Community Hospital, c/o Laura Gingras, VP of Philanthropy, 452 Old Street Road, Peterborough, NH 03458, or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W Swanzey Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446.

According to Mr. Turner’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
