Delma "Memere" Ouellette

Delma E. “Memere” Ouellette, Jaffrey’s oldest resident passed away peacefully on July 21, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 107. She held the Boston Post Cane in Jaffrey for over 7 years. She was born in Winchendon, MA on October 28, 1907, daughter of the late Thomas Coderre and Rosanna (Ricard) Coderre. Memere attended schools in Winchendon and lived there until moving to Jaffrey in 1968. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey and member of the Knights of Columbus Columbiettes. Memere also belonged to the Daughters of Isabella and the former St. Anne’s Society. She had worked at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough and retired at the age of 65. Still full of life and an urge to work, Memere became a lunch lady at the schools for multiple generations of Jaffrey children. Memere could grow anything, bake anything, and knit anything. On the holidays and at family events, she would bake everyone’s favorite dessert, which often meant over a dozen different dishes. She was a great historian and story teller. She was genuine, kind and sincere, and will always be remembered as everyone’s Memere. She was married to Emile “Jack” Ouellette. He predeceased her on January 29, 1981. Delma is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Lambert; her grandchildren, Candace (Lambert) Kilduff and husband Calvin, Patricia Lambert, Debra (Lambert) Hall and husband Kim, Kathryn Lambert Kamm and husband Kevin, Scott Lambert and wife Anne, Michelle (Lambert) Lafortune and husband Scott; Great Grandchildren; Megan Kilduff, Jason Kilduff, Joshua Motuzas, Kate (Motuzas) Somero and husband Matthew, Jenny Motuzas, Heather Hall Burt, Jeffrey Hall and wife Jennifer, Matthew Gauthier, Nicole Lambert, Kathryn Lambert, Wilfred Lambert, Chantal LaFortune, Claudia LaFortune; Great-Great Grandchildren, Shelby Somero, Darci Somero, Isabella Somero, Garrett Somero, Marcus Somero, Julia Somero, Gretchen Somero, Brielle Somero, Gavin Motuzas, Malique Motuzas, Eleanor Burt, Joanna Burt, Nickaylah Hall, Lillian Hall, Isabella Hall, Katelynn Hall, Brook Gauthier, Chloe Gauthier and Dharma Gauthier. Family and friends are warmly invited to Calling Hours on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 10:00 am at Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Burial will follow in the family lot at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
