Dorothy A. Tremblay

Dorothy A. Tremblay, 90, formerly of Jaffrey, NH, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont, NH after a period of failing health.

Born on May 7, 1923 in Troy, NH, Mrs. Tremblay was the daughter of the late Roger and Anna (Mertzl) Haskins. She grew up and was educated in Troy and moved to Jaffrey after she married Louis C. Tremblay in 1940.

After raising her family, Mrs. Tremblay went to work outside her home at several clerical positions. She retired from New Hampshire Ball Bearing in 1989 after working there as an inventory clerk for many years.

Mrs. Tremblay was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey and a member of the St. Anne’s Society. She also belonged to the Jaffrey Grange. She enjoyed travel, gardening, knitting, painting and playing Bingo. She particularly enjoyed spending time in the White Mountains at her son’s camp.

She was preceded in death by her husband Louis on May 28, 1998.

Mrs. Tremblay is survived by her daughter, Deanna Mayne (Howard) of Lee, NH and her 3 sons, Louis E. Tremblay (Patricia) of Avon, CT, Roger A. Tremblay (Sharon) of Merrimack, NH and Peter A. Tremblay of Keene, NH. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ellen Kobylski, David Tremblay, Stephen Tremblay, Paul Tremblay, Jeff Cardin, Jay Cardin, Victoria Mayne, Brian Tremblay, Tiffany Duval, Shawn Illinich, Peter Tremblay Jr., Louis Tremblay and Anthony Tremblay. She was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends and family are warmly invited to calling hours on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, immediately following calling hours, at 11:00AM at St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Tremblay’s memory to Colonial Poplin Activity Fund, PO Box 101, Fremont, NH 03040, or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
