Dorothy A. Moore, 66, of Sierra Drive, Jaffrey died peacefully Wednesday November 17, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 19, 1944 in Peterborough, daughter of the late Edward W. and Priscilla (Baird) Allord. Her father died six months later in Europe during World War II. She was raised by David A. Ely after his marriage to her mother.
Dotty was a life long resident of Jaffrey and had graduated from Conant High School in 1962.

She was employed as a purchasing agent with Millipore Corp in Jaffrey for twenty five years. Previously she had worked at the former Elite Laundry in Jaffrey, and in the office at Ames Dept. store in Peterborough. She had also worked as a waitress at Perrys Diner in Jaffrey and the Old Forge Restaurant, in Rindge.
While at Millipore she was involved with APEX. She was an auxiliary member of both the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion as well as Jaffrey Memorial Post #5613 VFW. For many years she was involved with the Holly Bazaar at the United Church in Jaffrey, the Jaffrey Educational Investment Club and was a partner in Granny Kates Antique Shop from 2000 until 2003. She loved attending yards sales where she would look for antiques. However most cherished to her was time spent with family.

She is survived by her husband of forty one years, John H. Moore Jr. of Jaffrey; her daughter Molly B. Betourney and her husband Brian of Englewood Florida; her son David J. Moore and his wife Chrisi of Jaffrey; three grandchildren Matthew R. Betourney of Jaffrey, Ashley G. Betourney of Northport Florida and Aaron M. Betourney with the United States Navy stationed at Norfolk VA; two sisters Priscilla M. Casey and Katherine E. Olson both of Jaffrey; a brother Edward T. Ely of Dover; nieces, nephews, cousins andclose friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a foster sister Lena R. Pelkey.

Private burial will be in Conant Cemetery, Jaffrey.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Monday November 22, 2010 at 1:00PM in the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Teri Motley, Pastor will officiate.
