Dr. Thomas F. Kottke, 68, of Fitzwilliam died Monday September 8, 2008 at his home after a long struggle with cancer.

He was born on August 24, 1940 in St. Paul, Minnesota, son of Ronald J and Lucille (Schofield) Kottke. Tom attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, WI and graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1965. While he was attending the schools to obtain his Chiropractic degree, he worked for the 3-M Company.

After moving from Hudson, WI to Jaffrey, NH in 1965, Tom bought Dr. Irve Nelsons Chiropractic Practice and later moved it to Rindge where he would eventually retire from on March 1, 2007.

During his career, Tom was very involved in the advancement and legislation of his profession. He was a board member of the New Hampshire Chiropractors Association and held several positions through the years. Tom was also a State Delegate for the American Chiropractors Association to Washington, DC, where he was responsible for helping his profession at the national level.

Tom was the Monadnock Regions chairman for the Ducks Unlimited organization for many years and was a devoted lifelong member as well. While he enjoyed hunting, he mostly enjoyed the time he was able to spend being outside in nature.

Tom was preceded in death by his son, Thomas F. Kottke, Jr. on November 30, 2003.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Cheryl (Feldman) Kottke of Fitzwilliam, NH who had worked with Tom in his practice. He is also survived by his daughter, Dr. Christina Devine of Keene, NH; his 3 sons, Kenneth J. Kottke of St. Petersburg, Florida, Andrew J. Kottke of Nassau, Bahamas, and Stephen L. Kottke and his wife Paige of Rindge, NH; 12 Grandchildren; a brother, Richard Kottke of Gray Eagle, Minnesota, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, including his first wife and mother of his children, Mary (Molly) Kottke of Marlborough, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Toms name to New Hampshire Ducks Unlimited, c/oDick Magie, 44 Birkdale Road, Bedford, NH 03110

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 South) in Jaffrey.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11:00AM in the Fitzwilliam Community Church on the common in Fitzwilliam, NH. Rev. Linda T. Tolton, Pastor, and Rev. James Haddix will officiate at the service.
