E. Jerome Mensel

E. Jerome Mensel, 78, of Dublin died Friday March 30, 2007 at his residence after a period of failing health.

Mr. Mensel was born in Northampton, MA on February 25, 1929, son of the late Ernst and Eleanor (Eastman) Mensel. He was the class president and 1946 Graduate of Northampton High School and earned his Bachelors Degree at Dartmouth College in 1950.

Mr. Mensel had been a resident of Dublin since 1980 and thoroughly enjoyed the Monadnock Region, and especially Dublin and Peterborough. Previously he had lived in Norfolk, MA, Cherry Hill, NJ, Mobile, AL and Glens Falls, NY.

Mr. Mensel was an executive with the Scott Paper Company based out of Philadelphia, PA. He had also worked for the Diamond International Paper Company in Boston, and after he retired, he enjoyed working at the A&P in Peterborough.

Mr. Mensel was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He had managed the Lodge at Beech Hill Hospital in Dublin for many years and had also assisted with the family counseling program there. Personally, he had celebrated more than 25 years of sobriety.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Arthur Mensel.

He is survived by his 2 daughters; Kimberley Majczan and husband Robert of Richboro, PA, and Macy Read Mensel of Albuquerque, NM; his son P.J. and wife Dede Mensel of Needham, MA; his 6 grandchildren, Allison Mafodda, Caitlin and Abbey Majczan, Wyatt Thomas, Timothy and Danny Mensel; his sister Patricia Perkins and her family of Pittsford, NY and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

At Mr. Mensel's request, there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday April 4, 2007 at 3:00pm at the Dublin Community Church in the center of Dublin on Route 101. Rev. Michael Scott, Interim Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Spring Grove Cemetery in Northampton, MA.
