Eva T. Dishong

September 23, 1935 — September 16, 2021

Eva Theresa Dishong, 85, formerly of Jaffrey, passed peacefully at Scott-Farrar assisted living surrounded by her family, after fighting a valiant 19-year battle with Parkinson’s.

Born on September 23, 1935 to Eva (Heinrich) and Andrew Mohl, she was the fifth of seven children. She grew up in a loving German family in Lebanon, PA where Eva attended Lebanon Catholic High School. Amazingly, she received a certificate for perfect attendance for all 12 years of school! After graduation, Mom worked for the Lebanon Daily news before she met her husband, George. They were married on August 17, 1957 and soon thereafter moved to Laurel, Maryland where they started their family. In 1963 the family moved to their home in Jaffrey, NH. Mom always said “she never thought she’d live in a house like that,” a beautiful Dutch colonial where the next 55 years were filled with treasured memories.

Eva was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her world. During her time in Jaffrey she was a lunch lady at St Patrick’s school, a clerk at Betty’s Smart Shop and worked at Brookstone while George attended law school. She was a member of the church choir and community league. Her children’s friends loved to come to the house after school because the cookie jar was always full with her homemade cookies! She loved days at Hampton Beach, camping at Pawtuckaway State Park and trips back to her “home”, 302 Spring Street Lebanon Pennsylvania (she said she saw the number 302 everywhere). A fun-filled day at Hershey Park was always a highlight of the trip. Eva always was certain to have a delicious meal for her family and they always knew how much that they were loved. She loved dancing, especially polkas, swimming at the lake, walking downtown to the cafe, gardening, embroidery, and baking (no one could make a pie better than her).

Eva is survived by her beloved husband, George, of 64 years, and her 4 children, Edward (Melissa), Denise Burleigh, Linda Bonczar (Steve) and John (Melissa). She cherished 11 grandchildren, Ella and Molly Dishong; Aaron, Andrew and Daniel Orsini and Georgia-Raye Moore; Hailey, Kendra & Grant Bonczar; Lauren and Zachary Dishong and her 2 step-grandchildren, Cody and Lucas Johnson. She was fortunate enough to have 3 great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Claire and Brayden. She is survived by her sister, Mary Nash and brother Anthony Mohl. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Eva (Heinrich) Mohl, sister Magdalena, and brothers Andrew, Joseph, and John.

She was the matriarch of the family and will continue to guide her family through her spiritual presence.
