Florence B. Jarest

Peterborough, NH Florence B. Jarest, 88, of Old Street Road, Peterborough died peacefully Monday August 15, 2011 at PheasantWood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Peterborough. She was born July 23, 1923 in Waits River VT., daughter of the late Edgar L. and Marion (Turner) Bigelow. She graduated in 1942 from Nute High School in Milton, NH. Mrs. Jarest had worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at Roy’s Market in Peterborough for more than forty years. In 1998 she received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Town of Peterborough, and in 1999 she was the Volunteer of the Year for the New Hampshire Association of Residential Care Homes. She was an active member of the Methodist Church Women’s Club. Her husband of forty six years Octave J. Jarest died January 29, 2000. She is survived by two sons Dwight D. Jarest and his wife Ruelle, Ted L. Jarest, and his wife Melissa, all of Peterborough; her daughter Faith Jarest of Jaffrey, and seven grandchildren She was predeceased by her sister Elsie M. Keefe in January 2008.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peterborough United Methodist Church, 43 Concord Street, Peterborough NH 03458, or to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St. Manchester NH 03101 to help educate Seniors living with Diabetes.

At her request, there will be no calling hours.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday August 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sand Hill Road, Peterborough. Rev. Elizabeth Davis, pastor of the Peterborough United Methodist Church, and Mrs. Jarest’s brother–in-law Rev. William Keefe, of Concord will officiate.
