GENE F. BERNIER, 64, of Summer Street, Peterborough died Monday December 15, 2008 peacefully at home.
He was born June 12, 1944 in Peterborough, son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Myhaver) Bernier. He was a 1962 graduate of the former Peterborough High School.

Gene had served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was a master electrician and had worked for New Hampshire Public Service for more than thirty years.
He enjoyed tinkering with automobiles and working with his tractor. He loved the out of doors and liked to fish. He enjoyed helping others. He was considered by everyone as their Go to Person when ever they needed help. But most of all he was a loving grandfather and cherish the time spent with family. He had been a member of the Mason Wolfrockers Square Dancing club for over 10 years and had also enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his daughter Janine Gilbertson of Peterborough; his son Joseph C. Bernier of Merrimack; his three grandsons Jaten Gilbertson and Nolan Gilbertson both of Peterborough and Adian Bernier of Merrimack; his brother Raymond Bernier of Dublin and a sister Mary Bernier of Washington State.

Burial will be in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Ipswich at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be Sunday December 21, 2008 at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 South) in Jaffrey from 2:00 to 4:00PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, High Street in Greenville. Rev. James P. Walsh pastor will officiate.
