Geneva A. Parker

Geneva A. Parker, 86, of Gilmore Court in Jaffrey, died Sunday June 14, 2009 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH after a brief illness.

She was born on February 12, 1923 in Athol, Mass, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mable (Foster) Noyes. She had attended Athol schools and had been a resident of Athol until moving briefly to Arizona and then to Jaffrey in 1984.

Mrs. Parker was a skilled machinist who had worked at the N.D. Cass Toy Company in Athol for over 20 years before working at Union Twist Drill in Athol until she retired in 1984.

In her youth, Mrs. Parker enjoyed camping, fishing and bowling and was a longtime member of the Athol Rod Gun Club. At home, she enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and especially liked baking various breads and cookies for all to enjoy. As she grew older, Mrs. Parker continued to warm the hearts of many with her tasty cookies as well as spending her time building puzzles and crocheting. Most recently, she had anxiously awaited the daily 1 oclock Cribbage game at Gilmore Court and was lucky enough to achieve the venerable perfect 29 point hand only 3 short weeks ago. Mrs. Parker was also a member of the United Church in Jaffrey and at one time had helped with the Triple D at the Church. She was an avid Red Sox fan and had even cheered them on during her illness.

She was married to Merle E. Parker who died on February 6, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister Shirley V. Clapp on March 2, 2008.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Powers of Wickenburg, AZ; her 4 grandchildren, James Powers, Kristy Powers of Greenville, NH, Robert Powers of Peterborough, NH and Stacy Powers of Jaffrey; her 6 great-grandchildren, Kristopher Powers of Tennessee, Ashley Page of Florida, Carly Powers of Jaffrey, NH Natasha Elms of New York, Shaun Powers of Tennessee, and Dylan Powers of Peterborough, NH; her brother John Morton of Peterborough and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, PO Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452.

Burial will be in the family lot atConant Cemetery in Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours which will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202) Jaffrey.

A Memorial Service will be held immediately following Calling Hours at 1:00 PM in the chapel at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center.
