Glendon E. Gadwah

Glendon E. Gadwah Sr. 88, of Boscawen, NH passed away at his home surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 29, 2012. He was born in Colebrook, NH on a cold winter day, two days after Christmas on, December 27, 1923 to Victor and Jessie Gadwah, one of their nine children. He resided in Colebrook, NH until he joined the United States Armed Forces in 1941. After completing his basic training in Louisiana, he joined General Patton’s first tank division in WWII. He then went on to serve six years with The Army Corps of Engineers and The United Nations to build The Berma Trail through China. After his years of service, he returned home to Colebrook, NH and married his high school sweetheart Ramona G. Bunnell in 1949. Glendon and Romona began their family of five children, Ronald, Robert, Patricia, Glen Jr. and James. In 1974 they lost their second son, Robert and returned to their NH roots in Peterborough, NH where they resided until his wife Ramona passed away in the spring of 1993. ln 1995 he met Ethel Eisele his companion who he shared the next sixteen years with, until losing her in the winter of 2011. In 2001 Glendon suffered a devastating spinal injury confining him to a wheelchair for the remainder of his life and, in 2001 Glendon moved in with his youngest son James. He was predeceased by his first two sons Ronald L and Robert D Gadwah, his brothers Lenard, Clement, Mervin, Vern, Normand and his sister Hilda. He is survived by his sister Ester and his brother Victor Jr., both of Meriden, CT., his children Patricia Senel, Glendon Jr. and his beloved son James, who with the help of Joel F. Winchenbaugh and Glendon’s home care companion, Jody Connell, cared for him the past eleven years in their home in Boscawen, NH. In addition, Glendon is survived by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends. Glendon will be missed and always remembered for his kind soul and humorous jokes!

A memorial service will be held at his home 233 King Street, Boscawen, NH 03303 on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Please email James for more information at jgadwah@Iive.com.
