Helene J. Armeno: Catholic Lay Missionary Helene J. Armeno, 74, of Millers River Road, Athol, MA, died peacefully at home on October 23, 2014, at 2:03am, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in New York City, NY, on February 12, 1940, a twin daughter of the late Rocco Joseph and Helen (Gluchanicz) Armeno. Helene was a 1958 graduate of Walton High School in the Bronx, NY, and attended some courses at Fordham University in the Bronx, NY. For more than 20 years, Helene and her twin sister were Catholic lay missionaries, Third Order members of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at Saint Benedict Center, Richmond, NH. Helene was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Thomas R. Armeno on June 8, 1994 and her twin sister, Johanna R. Armeno on April 21, 2001. She is survived by her sister, Barbara-Ann Nikl, of Danville, CA; her brother, Joseph M. Armeno, of Las Vegas, NV; five nieces; three nephews; and many close friends. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00PM and from 7:00 to 9:00PM in Saint Joseph Hall at Saint Benedict Center, 95 Fay Martin Road, Richmond, NH 03470 A traditional Latin Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Saint Benedict Center, 95 Fay Martin Road, Richmond, NH, with the Reverend Father David Phillipson officiating. Burial will follow at the Burial Grounds at Saint Benedict Center, Richmond, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helene's name to Saint Benedict Center, 95 Fay Martin Road, Richmond, NH, 03470.
