Irene Rita Norwood

Irene R. Norwood, 89, formerly of Jaffrey NH died May 3, 2010 in Jacksonville Florida, following a period of failing health.

She was born December 27, 1920 in Clinton MA, daughter of the late Frank and Minnie (Bosley) LaFountaine. She had attended Clinton Schools.

Mrs. Norwood married Maurice Ivan Norwood on January 7, 1939 and had been a resident of Jaffrey until he died August 20, 1981. She moved to North Fort Myers Florida in 1983 where she had lived until her most recent illness.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and had made countless afghans, sweaters, and mittens for her family and charity organizations. She was also an exemplary seamstress. She was an auxiliary member of the John Humiston American Legion Post #11 and Jaffrey Memorial VFW Post #5613 both of Jaffrey; she was a past treasurer and an active member in the River Trails Association.
Family includes her son Irvin F. Norwood and his wife Roseanne of Jacksonville FL; her two daughters Pearl Record of Jaffrey and Patricia Ouellette and her husband Robert of Manchester NH; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one step great grandchild; several nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Ernest M. Norwood on Feb 23, 1998, her daughter Donna M. Stevens on August 5, 2003, and her great grandson Stephen C. Record on Dec 27, 2007

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to either the Jaffrey-Rindge Ambulance Fund, Post Office Box 107, Jaffrey or to the Stephen C. Record Scholarship Fund, Post Office Box 4, Jaffrey NH 03452.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held on Friday May 14, 2010 at 11:00AM at the family lot in Conant Cemetery, Stratton Road, Jaffrey. Rev Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor of St. Patrick Church in Jaffrey will officiate.
