Jacqueline Paula Hautanen

October 28, 1939 — October 16, 2021

Jacqueline Paula (Dufault) Hautanen, 81, of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire (formerly Jaffrey) passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 after a brief illness.

Jacqueline (Jackie) was born in Winchendon, MA, October 28, 1939, to Paul and Louise (Houle) Dufault. The family home was in Winchendon, MA. Jackie was the second daughter born into the family joining her big sister and lifelong best friend Joanne (Jo) Darling. Jackie attended the Winchendon schools and graduated from Murdock High School.
Jackie spent many years in Rindge, NH, living in West Rindge across from Ed’s Auction, where she raised her family of three boys always putting them first in her life. She also loved cooking for her boys and enjoyed feeding all the neighborhood kids a hearty meal always with homemade baked treats. Cooking was her passion and she was a very accomplished cook, mastering even the most difficult recipes. Her husband, James (Jim) Hautanen was also a grateful recipient of her cooking talents. After retiring from Millipore Corporation (18-years of service), Jackie would be in the kitchen preparing an elaborate dish or reading through cookbooks or clipping recipes from magazines. Her pantry was continuously well stocked with ingredients for creating any recipe you could imagine.

In retirement, Jackie spent her days traveling with Jim on the touring motorcycle, in the kitchen cooking or with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Jackie “Gram” had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and was active in their daily lives. She enjoyed spending many hours behind the wheel driving her grandchildren to school or appointments or team practices. When they needed something, they could always count on Gram.
Jackie was avidly devoted to animals. Homeless cats or rescue dogs were always welcome in her home. She adopted pet rabbits and birds and even goats. She shared this love of animals with her sons and her grandchildren. Just like her family, no animal went hungry when Jackie was around.

Jackie is survived by her sons Chris Bartlett and his wife Julia, Cory Bartlett, and Jonathan Bartlett and his wife D’Ann. She is also survived by her sister Joanne (Dufault) Darling and her husband Charles. Jackie has eight (8) grandchildren: Amanda and Dylan Bartlett, Dawson Luoma, Colby, Elijah, and Jackson Bartlett, William Lary and Noah Bartlett. Jackie was predeceased by her husband James (Jim) Hautanen (2014).

A burial service will be planned for Conant Cemetery, Jaffrey, NH, in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
