James B. Dodge, 73, of Forest Park Estates in Jaffrey, died on Saturday, December 22, 2007, after a period of failing health.

Mr. Dodge was born in Massena, NY on February 22, 1934, son of Philip and Catherine (Martin) Dodge. He was a 1952 graduate of Massena High School.

In 1954, Mr. Dodge enlisted with the U.S. Air Force. He was an Airman 1st Class and served in the Air Weather Service throughout Tornado Alley in the Midwest, including Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Illinois, and then briefly in Florida. While based in Madrid, Spain, he set up weather monitoring stations all over the Middle East and North Africa.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1967, Mr. Dodge began working as a High Energy Laser Research Physicist, researching and developing lasers for the Military and Medical fields and had worked throughout New England for several different research firms. His work contributed to many of todays medical treatments that involve the use of lasers, including the LASIK vision correction procedure.

Mr. Dodge was an avid golfer and skier and enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes. He also loved to read, especially Science Fiction.

Mr. Dodge is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann (Premo) Dodge of Jaffrey, his daughter Lesley-Ann and her husband Joel Day of Mont Vernon, NH; his son Bruce and his wife Linda Dodge of Greenfield, NH; his 2 grandsons, Jerid and Jordan Day of Mont Vernon, NH; his sister Shirley Harvey of Massena, NY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dodges name to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, Financial Management Branch, Building 31, Room 4C21, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892-2350; or to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101

At Mr. Dodge's request, there will be no calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
