AROL R. POCKETT, JR, 79 of Jaquith Road in Harrisville, died Wednesday April 8, 2009 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester following a sudden illness.

He was born December 19, 1929 in Claremont NH, son of the late Doris and Arol Pockett, Sr.
He had attended Claremont schools and enlisted in the United States Army in March 1954. He received his basic training at Fort Dix, NJ and was assigned to Company C, 512th ATB, 4th Armored Division, Fort Hood Texas. He was stationed in Korea, Panama and Vietnam. Arol was awarded the Bronze Star medal with V device as well as the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He retired following more than twenty six years with the U.S. Army.

Following his discharge he had worked at Filtrine Mfg Co. in Harrisville, Reed and Price in Jaffrey and retired from Sylvania in Hillsboro.
He loved to fish and had attended many of the Fishing Derbys throughout the State. He also enjoyed riding snow-mobiles and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Carolyn (Boutwell) Pockett of Harrisville; a daughter Donna M. Royce of Nashua; two sons Arol R. Pockett III of Antrim and Donald Lee Pockett of Concord, NH; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.

Burial with full military honors will be at a later date in the family lot in the Dublin Cemetery, Dublin NH.

The Pockett family warmly invites friends to call from 5:00 to 7:00PM on Monday April 13, 2009 at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) in Jaffrey.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Tuesday March 14, 2009at 11:00 AM.
