James H. Buzzell, Jr.

October 14, 1932 — November 26, 2009

James H. Buzzell, Jr, 77, of Richmond, died on Thanksgiving Day after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving and devoted family by his side.

Mr. Buzzell was born on October 14, 1932 in Hartford, Connecticut, son of the late James and Katherine (Kane) Buzzell. He was a 1949 graduate of Hartford High School and after graduating U.S. Naval Flight School in Pensacola, Florida, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a fighter pilot and rose to the rank of Major.

Mr. Buzzell later graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1960 with a BSEE and continued on in his business interests around the globe. He was recognized for his membership in Mensa International.

While in the Marines, Mr. Buzzell met, and on September 11, 1954, married the love of his life, Betty Jo Clements, and together they raised a wonderful family.

Mr. Buzzell was also very civic minded and became active in the communities he lived in through the years. He was a Catholic traditionalist and a Pro-Life activist. He was a very devout man to the Latin Mass and would partake of the Latin Mass whenever it was available to him. Mr. Buzzell (Br. Malachi Mary, M.I.C.M., Tert.) was a 3rd Order Member of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at St. Benedict Center in Richmond.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Buzzell of Richmond; his 6 Children; Lisa Dawn Traeger of Strafford, PA, Stephen Craig Buzzell of Stowe, VT, Kimberly Buzzell DeMasco of Richmond, NH, Antoinette Cincotta of San Diego, CA, Gregory Thomas Buzzell of Wellesley, MA and Beth Buzzell Miller of Dover, DE; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother Charles Henry Buzzell of Milo, ME and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Benedict Center Cemetery, Fay Martin Road, Richmond, NH (map/driving directions)

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.

The funeral will be a sung Requiem Mass in the traditional Latin Rite, offered by the Very Reverend Father Daniel O. Lamothe at Saint Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street in Keene. The Mass will be on Monday, November 30, at 9:00 AM. (map/driving directions)
