Kevin P. Rivard

KEVIN P. RIVARD, 72, of Port Orange, FL., formerly of Jaffrey NH, died peacefully at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, in Daytona Beach FL on Friday November 20, 2009 following a brief illness.

He was born March 27, 1937 in Jaffrey, son of the late Henry E. and Virginia (Wall) Rivard.
Kevin was a 1955 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey, and had served with the United States Army National Guard during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of the John Humiston American Legion Post #11 of Jaffrey.

Kevin had worked as a carpenter for Frederick H. Smith in Jaffrey for several years. He later joined the Jaffrey Police Department and had risen to the rank of Detective when he retired in 1984. Following his retirement from the police department he worked for the United States Postal Service in Peterborough, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the New Hampshire Retired Police Officers Association.
He has been a resident of Port Orange since 2003.
Kevin enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid golfer. He was a founding member of the Fathers Day Invitational Golf Classic; member of the Crane Lake Golf Association; and he also held membership in the Hole in One Club.
He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to tell a story or a joke like no one else could.
However most cherished to him was the time spent with family.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Deanna (Edmunds) Rivard, of Port Orange FL; three daughters Robin Ann Bussiere of Jaffrey, Wendy L. Duval also of Jaffrey, Melanie J. Lizotte of Dublin; four sons Andrew D. Lawn, Daniel R. Lawn, and James E. Lawn all of Jaffrey, Gregory G. Lawn of Kennebunk Maine; two sisters Patricia Farrell and Virginia Star Kachadoorian both of Jaffrey; his brother Peter A. Rivard of Jaffrey; twenty-two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two aunts several cousins and close friends.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother David E. Rivard, September 16, 1991.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance Fund, Post Office Box 107, Jaffrey NH 03452

Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call on Friday December 4, 2009 at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey from 4:00 to 7:00PM.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday December 5, 2009 at 11:00AM, in the West Rindge United Methodist Church / The Vineyard, Mountain Road in Rindge.
