Lillian B. Washburn

Lillian B. Washburn, 89, of Bradley Court in Jaffrey died peacefully on Wednesday February 27, 2008 at her home following a period of declining health.
 
She was born on January 2, 1919 in Boston, MA daughter of the late Dr. Edmond J. and Ellen (Bjorkstrom) MacDonald.  She was a graduate of Somerville (MA) High School and also Kents Hill College in Lewiston ME.  She had been a resident of Jaffrey since 1941.
 
She was a former employee of W.W. Cross Company and Goodnow Brothers Department store in Jaffrey.
Mrs. Washburn retired in August 1986 following more than twenty years as school secretary at Conant High School.
 
She was a member of the United Church of Jaffrey. She was a member of the Friendly Guild and the Memorial Gifts Committee of the Church as well being an active part of the Religious Education Program.
 
For many years she was Treasurer of the former Jaffrey Community League.  Lillian was also a very accomplished pianist.
 
On April 12, 1941 she married Alfred R. Washburn. He died December 28, 1983.  Her brother Dr. George MacDonald and her sister Helen Hildreth also predeceased her.
 
Survivors include her two daughters Jane E. Washburn of Nashua, NH and Linda L. Wilson of Lynnfield MA; two grandsons, Matthew J. Wilson and Mark D. Wilson; several nieces, nephews cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey, New Hampshire  03452.

Burial was in Conant Cemetery, Jaffrey, New Hampshire

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the United Church of Jaffrey.  Rev. Jan Shepherd, Interim Pastor, will officiate.
