Lloyd C. Robinson, 82, of Main Street in Jaffrey, died peacefully Thursday April 14, 2011 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester after being stricken at his residence five days earlier.

He was born May 11, 1928 in Washington DC, the eighth child ofGeorge and Caroline Robinson's ten children. He had attended public schools in Washington before enlisting in the United States Army during World War II, where two of his brothers were already serving. He was stationed in the Pacific theater, and later became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, North Carolina before being honorably discharged. Subsequently, Mr. Robinson joined the United States Air Force, retiring as Master Sergeant in 1973. During that period he was a reciprocating engine technician, aircraft and engine mechanic, and an airman aide to General Curtis LeMay. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

After his military service, Mr. Robinson worked as a service manager for Ryland Homes in Columbia Maryland and spent ten years employed by the U.S. Department of Interior, National Park Service, Capitol Region, overseeing projects at historic sites in the Washington D.C. area.

He married Kathleen Mary Hagen on September 9, 1982. They made their home in Columbia, Maryland before moving to Jaffrey Center, New Hampshire in 1985 where they enjoyed an active community life and made many friends. His wife died March 10, 2010.

Mr. Robinson was an active member of the First Church in Jaffrey, and was a life member of the Village Improvement Society of Jaffrey Center. He was a member of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion in Jaffrey andwas a former member of the Jaffrey Rindge Lions Club. He had served as treasurer of the club from 1992 to 1998. He had also served on the Budget Committee for the Town of Jaffrey. He enjoyed making furniture, fixing any mechanical equipment, golfing, history, and tending to the needs of his family and many friends.

He is survived by a brother, Elmer P. Robinson of Chicago, Illinois; four sisters, Mrs. Janet Cox (Walter) of Silver Spring, MD, Mrs. Nancita Lomax of Washington DC, Mrs. Alicia Fairley of Kensington, MD, and the Hon. Annice Wagner (Charles) of Washington, DC; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army, 15 Roxbury Plaza, Keene 03431.

Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington VA at a later date.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 30, 2011 at 2:00PM at the First Church in Jaffrey, 14 Laban Ainsworth Way in Jaffrey Center. Rev Robert Kyte, pastor, will officiate. Immediately following the service there will be a family hour.
