Lola B. Grab

January 9, 1952 — July 18, 2016

Lola-Gene Broesder Grab passed peacefully at home on July 18, 2016 with family by her side.

Lola was born on January 9, 1952 to George and Leslie Broesder in Newton, New Jersey and graduated from Newton High School. She and Michael Grab were married on July 31, 1974 in Monticello, New York and moved together to New Hampshire in 1978. Lola graduated with her Bachelors from Franklin Pierce College and her Masters from New Hampshire College. She was a long time resident of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire.

Lola spent her life devoting her time to many activities she felt strongly about. She was a lifelong Girl Scout earning the highest honors she could obtain in her earlier life, then passing these experiences and opportunities to her local Scout troops from Brownies to college aged young women. Lola was the first Coast Guard First District Ombudsman and earned the Swivel Shot Award for Coast Guard Volunteers. She was a large influence in the Fitzwilliam Memorial Day Committee and Recreation Committee for many years. Lola was a supportive ski mom to her daughter and many other local youths through the Bill Koch Ski League up through their ski teams in their high school years. She was an avid knitter obtaining great pleasure in creating one of kind knitted and felted items for her granddaughters and special friends. Lola was highly valued and influential in the Dog Agility world running with her dog Jib earning many titles. Lola was a respected Canine Performance Events (CPE) judge traveling the country judging and mentoring many agility handlers. Lola was a supportive, inspiring, creative and strong woman who loved to share her knowledge and abilities with those around her.

Loved ones who will miss Lola are her husband, Michael Grab, her daughter Melissa Castor and son in law Rich Castor, her granddaughters McKenna Ryan Castor and Maddox Reed Castor, step sister Becky Fuller and special friends Jill, Janice and Doreen.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you honor Lola by making a donation to assist with the fight against Canine Cancer to the Morris Animal Foundation, 720 S. Colorado Blvd., Suite 174A Denver, CO 80246.

An Evening of Sharing and Remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 beginning at 5:00 pm at the Muddy Paws Canine Training Center, 6643 U.S. Route 5, Westminster, VT 05158. There will be a potluck and sharing of the wonderful memories of Lola. We encourage you to bring photos and stories to add to Lola’s Memory Scrapbook or bring a premade page to add to it that night. We will have supplies available that evening if you wish to sit and create a page that evening. If you are unable to attend, we would love for you to send Mike an 8 1/2x 11 scrapbook pages to add to her memory book with your special stories and pictures. Please bring your camp chair, favorite beverage and a potluck contribution and hopefully you can also join us for the fire afterwards. Root beer schnapps floats or root beer floats will be available in honor of being Lola’s favorite Agility Celebration beverage. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mike or Melissa.
