Lorraine Clark Hill

Jaffrey, NHLorraine Clark Hill, 92, of Squantum Road, Jaffrey died peacefully Saturday October 16, 2010 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a brief illness.

She was born November 26, 1917 in Jaffrey, daughter of the late Walter and Estella Clark.
Lorraine was a 1935 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and was a 1937 graduate of the former Concord Business College. She has been a life long resident of this community.

Mrs. Hill was the Executive Director of the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge for thirty two years. Previously she was employed as a secretary for ten years with the National Grange Insurance Company in Keene. She was Trustee Emeritus of the Cathedral of the Pines. Mrs. Hill was a model for one of the four bronze tablets, designed by Norman Rockwell, that appear on the Womens Memorial Bell Tower at the Cathedral of the Pines.

For many years, following retirement, she and her husband would spend winters in Sarasota Fla. She was a Golden Sheaf member of the Jaffrey Grange, Pomona, as well as the State and National Grange. She was a member of the former Baptist Church in Jaffrey and upon Federation, became a member of the United Church of Jaffrey. Lorraine was a former Deaconess at the United Church, and was a Charter Member and the oldest active member of the Triple D of the Church. She was also a former member of the Couples Club at the Church. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Cloud Busters square dancing group. She also enjoyed her daily walks downtown.

Her husband of sixty three years Reginald C. Hill died August 26, 2009.

Survivors include her two sons, Bruce Hill and his wife Pamela of West Dennis, MA; Richard L. Hill and his wife Katherine of Jaffrey; five grandchildren, Daniel Hill and his wife Nadine of Charlestown, MA, Nicholas Hill and his wife, Laura, of Jaffrey, Samuel Hill and his wife Meghan, of Rindge, Abigail Derosier and her husband Joseph of Jaffrey, and Liza Hill and fianc Joseph Spraque of Jaffrey; six great-grandchildren, Amelia Hill, Meredith Hill, Chance Derosier, Ella Derosier, Sophie Hill, and Clark Hill; nieces and nephews and several close friends.

Burial in the family lot at Conant Cemetery will be private.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday October 19,2010 at 11:00AM in the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street in Jaffrey. Rev. Terri Motley pastor, will officiate.
