Louis G. Pomponio

Louis G. Pomponio, 66, formerly of South Woodbound Road in Rindge, died peacefully on Saturday June 4, 2011 at the Lowell (MA) Healthcare Center, following a period of failing health.

He was born June 23, 1944 in Newark, NJ son of Frederick and Helen (Baer) Pomponio.
He was a 1961 graduate of Belleville (NJ) High School where he excelled in football as a linebacker.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star with V Devise. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Louis cherished time spent with family and enjoyed teaching life-lessons to children whom he came in contact with. Because of his high school football career, Louis enjoyed watching football on TV.

He had lived in Rindge for more than 10 years and had also lived in Delray Beach, Florida for another ten years. He has been a resident of Lowell for the past two years.

Survivors include his mother and main care-giver Helen B. Pomponio of Rindge, his daughter Taryn Alano of Basking Ridge, NJ; his brother Frederick Pomponio Jr. and his wife Renee of Rindge; two nieces Mellissa Brooks of Rindge and Monique Blake of Farmingdale, ME; and several great nieces and nephews.

Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 11:00AM inSt. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate.
