Margiorinio S. Ascani

MARGIORINIO S. ASCANI, 79, of Bow Center Road in Bow, died Tuesday October 12, 2010 at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Associations Hospice House, in Concord following a brief illness.

He was born May 6, 1931 in Jaffrey, son of the late Enrico and Zelinda (Frulla) Ascani, and was a 1949 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey.

Immediately following graduation he began working for First National Stores, first in Jaffrey and then in Gardner and Fitchburg MA. He retired as Produce Manager in 1980. At that time he became Active Duty with the New Hampshire Army National Guard, serving as Construction Engineer Supervisor and later as Personnel Records Supervisor, retiring in May of 1991.

He was a member of John Humiston Post #11 of the American Legion in Jaffrey.

He was a member of and had served on the board of the Concord Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, reading and golf. Most any time you could find him tinkering around his house.
On May 7, 1955 he married Lorraine M. Gagnon. She died October 10, 1991.
On August 27, 1998 he married Elizabeth Small Cameron. She died March 17, 2007.

Survivors include his son Timothy R. Ascani and his wife Laurie of Nashua; his daughter Debra Ascani Jones and her husband Stephen of Marathon, FL; two step daughters Susan Croft and her husband David of Penacook, Karen Armstrong of Danforth ME; three step-sons John Kidder of Pittsfield NH, William Heath of Kennebunk ME and Lloyd Doughty of Manchester; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nine step grandchildren; a sister Margiorina DAmico of Jaffrey; many nieces and nephews.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202S) in Jaffrey on Friday October 15,2010 from 10:00AM until 12:00Noon.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00Noon.
