Marie Lou Plantamura

July 8, 1923 — March 5, 2018

Marie Lou Plantamura, 94, a longtime resident and holder of Dublin's Boston Post Cane, died peacefully at the Hillsboro House Nursing Home in Hillsboro, NH, after a period of failing health.

Born Marie Louise on July 8,1923 in Perwez, Belgium, she was the daughter of the late Fernand and Virginie Maniquet. She was a registered nurse during World War II working in Austria with the United Nations helping the displaced families liberated from concentration camps. It was there she met her future husband Paul, and where their daughter was born.

They emigrated to the United States in 1951 after living in England for a few years. They started a new life in New York City and became citizens. Becoming a widow in 1975, she later remarried and had more than 20 wonderful years with Dominick in upstate New York. Marie Lou came here to Dublin, NH to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 2002.

Marie Lou had a wonderful full life loving to travel the world with her family and friends. She also enjoyed her regular visits to the casino.

She is survived by her daughter Margaret "Peggy" Roth of Dublin, her granddaughter Jennifer, her grandson Eric, her two great-granddaughters, Sofia and Gabrielle, who called her Bobonne, her niece Annie and her nephew Willy and their families in Belgium, and many friends. Her beloved cat and constant companion Baby passed the next day.

At Marie Lou's request there will be no calling hours and a celebration of her life will be held later.
