Marion I. Stewart

August 30, 1919 — January 9, 2010

Jaffrey, New Hampshire

Marion I. Stewart, 90, of Stratton Road died Saturday January 9, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jaffrey while surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.

Marion was born in Jaffrey on August 30, 1919, daughter of the late Charles I. and Lola (Mather) Willis. She was a 1937 graduate of Conant High School and a lifelong resident of Jaffrey. She married William H. Stewart on November 10, 1940.

She had worked at the Annett Box Company and for D.D. Bean and Sons, both in Jaffrey, for several years, and then, together with her husband, co-founded King Manufacturing Company in 1955.

Marion will be most remembered for her tireless and loving devotion to her family and for always having a quick wit and open heart. She loved shopping and considered it her best form of exercise. Marion would often find extra time to knit and do other crafts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide variety of music. She also loved to travel with her husband and together they went on many of the Rex Trailer Tours. Additionally they enjoyed several trips to Europe and their annual vacations at the ocean. Marion also enjoyed the trips she took with her friends at the Jaffrey Seniors. Warm and giving, it was with her family by her side that Marion was happiest as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. One of her greatest thrills came on her 89th birthday when she had the opportunity to ride a Harley-Davidson she loved every minute of the ride and shared the story with everyone.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 2000, her grandson Daniel Korpi in 2002, and her brother George Willis in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter Bette A. Korpi and her husband Robert; her sons, William C. Stewart and his wife Deborah, and Donald B. Stewart and his wife Sandra, all of Jaffrey; her 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren; her sister-in-laws, Glennis Baldwin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla, and Claire Willis and Margie Stewart, both of Jaffrey, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marions name to the Activities Fund at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452, or to the Friends of the Jaffrey Public Library, 38 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452

Burial will take place in the spring in the family lot at Conant Cemetery in Jaffrey.
