MARTHA P. SHANNON, 85 of Old New Ipswich Road in Rindge, died Wednesday Feb 14, 2007 at the Hillsboro House in Hillsboro following a period of failing health.

She was born January 24, 1922 in Newton MA. daughter of the late Frederick H. and Elizabeth (Perry) Paul.

She was a 1940 graduate of Oak Grove Academy in Maine and received her Bachelor'™s degree from Wellesley College in 1944.

Before her marriage she was an elementary teacher at Carlisle, MA schools as well as Winchester NH schools.

Mrs. Shannon was actively involved with the Girl Scouts in Newton MA for many years.

She also was a member of the Newton Art Association.

She and her husband summered in Rindge since the 1940'™s and in 1975 moved from Newton MA to become year round residents of Rindge.

Her husband of 43 years H. Clinton Shannon died November 1, 1992.

She is survived by her daughters Beth E. Dunning of Rindge and Ruth E. Bergmann of Greenfield; three grandchildren Vanessa Williams of Jaffrey, Edward and Shannon Glidden of Greenfield; a great grandson Zander Williams of Jaffrey.

A calling hour will be held on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) Jaffrey.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM in the funeral home. Rev. Elizabeth Davis, pastor of the Peterborough Methodist Church will officiate.

Spring Burial will be in the family lot in Hillside Cemetery, Goddard Road, Rindge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hampshire Chapter of Alzheimer'™s Association, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 427B, Concord, NH 03301.
