Mary Elizabeth Betty McGill, 78, of Bonds Corner Road in Harrisville, died Sunday January 17, 2010. She passed away peacefully at her home, in the loving care of her granddaughter Melissa Smith.
Betty was born June 4, 1931 in Nyack, NY daughter of the late James and Marion (Smith) McGill.
She has been a resident of Harrisville since 1972, having previously lived in Haverstraw, NY.
Betty had been employed at Hitchners as a supervisor until her retirement. Previously she had worked at the former Tower Restaurant in Keene.
She enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking. She held a third degree Black Belt in Karate,was a Reiki practitioner, a Justice of the Peace, and a minister in the American Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her two daughters Mary Beth Jones of New Market NH, Dinah Myra Cherry of Dingmans Ferry PA; a son Kenneth Jones II of Wurtsboro, NY; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; two sisters Jean Secor of New Milford PA and Joyce Westbrook of Stony Point NY; a brother James McGill of Marathon, NY; a half brother Joseph Prokop of Hunter Mountain, NY; a step-brother Robert Prokop of Woburn, MA; several nieces and nephews and close friends.
She was predeceased by her two sisters Ruth Moffitt and Barbara Bolak.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, Post Office Box 496, Peterborough NH 03458, or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey NH 03446.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 4, 2010 at 2:00PM in All Saints Episcopal Church, Concord Street, Peterborough.
