Mary L. Letourneau

Mary Louise Letourneau, 85, of Keene, passed away peacefully at the Cheshire Medical Center on Tuesday April 3, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 6, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Richard and Edna (Ryan) Henry. At the age of 13, Mary moved to Jaffrey with her family and became a communicant of Saint Patrick Church where she eventually married Norman ‘Nonny’ Letourneau on March 10, 1951. In 1969 Nonny and Mary Lou moved to Keene, NH where they attended Keene State College and Saint Bernard Church together and continued to raise their five children.

She earned her master’s degree in education and taught Reading, History and English at the Middle Schools in Keene and New Ipswich. Mary had dabbled in Real Estate sales and had also worked at National Grange Mutual Insurance for many years.

Mary Lou always enjoyed helping her husband with his photography and selling his artwork and more at local craft shows. She was completely devoted to her family, including her dogs through the years, especially ‘Ollie’.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Norman Letourneau on March 9, 2012, by her son, Glenn Letourneau, and by her grandson, Michael Washor.

Mrs. Letourneau is survived by her daughter, Jill Letourneau (Diehl) of Rhode Island; her 3 sons, Brian and his wife Kelley Letourneau of Keene, NH, Joel and his wife Kim Letourneau of Surry, NH, and Kenneth and his wife Taake Letourneau of Okinawa, Japan; twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Margaret Letourneau of Chelmsford, MA and her longtime friend, Bertha Robichaud of Jaffrey

At her request, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps will be the officiant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be made to either Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452 or to Saint Bernard’s Church, c/o the Parish of the Holy Spirit, 161 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431, or to the Monadnock Region Humane Society, 101 W Swanzey Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446.
