MAUREEN M. THOMAS, 66 of Casalis Road in Peterborough, died June 12, 2007 peacefully at home following a long and courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig'™s Disease)

She was born June 7, 1941 in Peterborough, daughter of the late Maurice and Rose (Foster) McPhie.
Maureen was a 1959 graduate of Our Lady of Monadnock Academy in Jaffrey and 1961 graduate of Mount Ida College in Newton Center, MA.

She has been a resident of Peterborough since 1966.
For several years Maureen had been employed at the former Peterborough Savings Bank but most of her time had been spent at home as a beloved mother and wife. She had also served as treasurer of the Peterborough Women'™s Club.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years Wayne E. Thomas of Peterborough; her son Nicholas A. Thomas of Marshfield, MA; two brothers John M. McPhie of Edgewater Florida and Paul J. McPhie of Rindge; several nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Ellen T. McPhie on April 10, 1971.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey on Sunday, June 17, 2007 from 3:00 to 6:00PM

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00AM in St. Peter Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. Rev. Gerald R. Belanger and Pastor Bob Ritchie of the Bennington Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Northern New England Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 438, Box 314, Concord NH 03301
