Maurice C. Buck

Maurice C. Buck, 86, died peacefully at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center on June 27, 2007.

He was born in West Charleston, Vermont on September 12, 1920 to Edward and Blanche (Marvin) Buck, the youngest of three children.

Mr. Buck served in the US Army during World War II with the Transportation and Signal Corps in Italy where he was Assistant Train Conductor on the troop trains. After his tour of service, he moved his family to Colebrook, New Hampshire and made his living as a logging contractor and later as a road contractor. He retired to Jaffrey, New Hampshire to be near family and enjoyed his work as a school bus driver until February of this year.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5613 in Jaffrey, and the John Humiston American Legion Post #11 in Jaffrey. He served on many Committees and Boards of the Methodist Church of Colebrook.

In addition to his wife of 65 years Vera Ellen (Hoy) Buck, he is survived by his four children, June E. Edwards and her husband Bruce of Rindge, New Hampshire, Robert M. Buck and his wife Renae of Charleston, South Carolina, Sally L. Brabble and her husband Donald of Bow, New Hampshire, and Patricia M. Buck of Charleston, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Jonathan J. Edwards and his wife Jennifer, Vaughn T. Buck, Dawn E. Revellese and her husband Daniel, Jessica J. Murphy and her husband Kevin, Sarah T. Thomas and her husband Jason, and Ryan M. Buck; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zack, Jack, Austin, Rachel, Tucker, Charlie, and Danny; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters Esther Hamilton and Arlene Leslie.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 29, 2007. A Christian burial will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the West Charleston Cemetery, West Charleston, Vermont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Good Shepherd Healthcare Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, New Hampshire 03452 or the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey, New Hampshire 03452.
