MICHAEL J. SYMONOWICZ, 85 of Poplar Court, Jaffrey died Monday September 3, 2007 at the Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina, after a lingering illness.He was born March 8, 1922 in Worcester MA son of the late Boleslaw and Wladislawa (Zalenska) Symanowicz. He had attended school in Worcester only through the fourth grade, however later in life went on to take many college classes and the Dale Careigene management seminar series.He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Rindge NH, where he met his wife of 58 years, Lillian (LaPlante) Symonowicz. He also served in the U. S. Army during World War II where he was stationed at Halloran General Hospital in Staten Island, NY.Mr. Symonowicz had worked for 40 years at WW Cross Co. in Jaffrey and after his retirement as Maintenance Foreman, drove a school bus for a regular route and to many sporting events.Mr. Symonowicz was a communicant of Saint Patricks Church in Jaffrey and St. Philip Neri in Fort Mill, SC. He was a life member and past vice commander of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion of Jaffrey. He had also volunteered his time as a driver of the posts van, taking other members in need to doctors appointments, etc.He enjoyed traveling, particularly camping across the east coast of the U.S. with his wife and grandchildren. Among his most favorite places to travel included the NH and Maine coastal area and he loved the ocean. In his good health he also enjoyed sailing and tennis.He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian who died on July 20, 2002 and his daughter Anna J. Devlin, who died on February 21, 2001..Family members include a daughter Sandra L. Goulet of Reidsville, NC; two sons Michael J. Symonowicz of Port Charlotte FL and Theodore J. Symonowicz of Jaffrey; grandchildren, Jessica (Devlin) Cheney of Fort Mill, SC, Samuel Devlin of Pale Verde, AZ, Shawn Devlin of Dayton OH, Bryan Goulet of Milford, Scott Goulet of Keene; four great grandchildren; a brother Benjamin Symonowicz of Worcester MA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patricks School, 70 Main Street, Jaffrey NH 03452.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main St, Jaffrey. Rev Wilfred H. Deschamps pastor will officiate.
