Michael V. Walker

August 20, 1938 — September 17, 2012

Michael V. Walker, 74, of Dublin died peacefully September 17, 2012, in the comfort of his home while sleeping. He was born in Peterborough August 20, 1938, son of Vernon “Dutchie Walker and Marion (Pickford) Walker and was a life-long resident of Dublin. Upon graduating from Peterborough High School in 1956 he traded in his Tonka Toys for big Mack trucks and heavy equipment. This was the beginning of 56 years of doing what he loved. He was never satisfied until the job was perfect. He also loved Dublin. He was on the Conservation Commission for many years, a selectman for 9 years, a volunteer fireman and a forest fire warden. He could fix anything. If he didn’t have the parts, he made them. If one of his kids or grandkids had a problem he was on the road to the rescue, no matter how far away they were. He was always available in any emergency. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Walker of Dublin; a son, James Walker and his partner, Susan Towle of Swanzey; a daughter, Elizabeth Walker and her husband, Scott Rajaniemi of Dublin; grandchildren, Eli and Jasmine Rajaniemi; Elizabeth, Catherine, Alexandra and Richard Towle and Jacqueline Tommila; a brother-in-law, David Calef of Spofford; 4 nephews and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to either the Dublin Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 94, Dublin, NH 03444; or the Farnum Rehabilitation Center at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene, 580 Court Street, Keene, NH 03431.

At Mike’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Saint Peter's Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, Vine Street, Peterborough. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
