MILDRED CUTTER, 92, of Turnpike Road, Jaffrey, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center in Jaffrey.She was born October 11,1915 in Jaffrey Center, daughter of the late Percy Lawrence and Helena Josephine (Clark) Cutter.She was a 1933 cum laude graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and a 1936 graduate of the former Keene Normal School. In 1962 she received her Bachelor of Education degree from Keene State College.She began her forty-year teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Whitingham VT. She loved Vermont and memories of that first year were dear to her heart. She taught for the next 39 years at the Jaffrey Grade School until she retired in 1977She was a life member of the United Church of Jaffrey; a fifty-year member of the Triple D, and long time member of the Memorial Gifts Committee and the Friendly Guild. She performed a wonderful and longtime ministry of cards, letters, and flowers in both Triple D and Friendly Guild. She oversaw the upkeep of the kitchen and the parlor at the United Church for 25 years.She was a Girl Scout leader. She had worked at the Jaffrey Public Library as a staff member and a volunteer and was one of the first to join the Friends of the Library Group. She was a Life Skills volunteer at Mascenic Regional High School in New Ipswich from 1998 to 2007. A member of the former Jaffrey Community League; a member of the New Hampshire Retired Teachers Association; former P.T.A. member and was one of the first members of the Jaffrey Historical Society. During World War II she was an official Airplane Observer and volunteered at the Observation Posts in Jaffrey and Rindge.She was an avid newspaper reader and clipper of items that she knew would be of interest to a specific person. Articles that might never be seen were mailed or hand delivered. She kept up with sports, the Red Sox, the Boston Celtics and especially all of the local boys and girls teams. She was a special fan of the Conant High School teams.She is survived by her many close friends, including Cynthia Hamilton, Joyce Tilton and Sharon Tyler, of Jaffrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey or to the Trustees of the Jaffrey Librarys Childrens Department, Main Street, Jaffrey 03452.

As per Miss Cutters request, there will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held at the family lot in the Cutter Cemetery on Harkness Road in Jaffrey on Friday November 9, 2007 at 1:00PM. The Rev. Jan Shepherd, Interim Pastor of the United Church of Jaffrey, will officiate.A coffee hour will take place immediately following in the Parish Hall at the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street. All are invited to celebrate her life.
