Mildred E. Moore

Mildred E. Moore, 90, formerly of Townsend, MA and Jaffrey, NH; died peacefully Saturday January 26, 2013 at the Keystone Center in Leominster, MA surrounded by the love of her family. She was born September 19, 1922 in Wilton, NH daughter of the late John and Lillian (Kelly) Weston. She attended Hudson (MA) High School and graduated from the Fanning Trade School in Worcester, MA with the class of 1939. She then met and married her husband of forty-eight years, Robert Thornton Moore. From 1946 until 1948 they traveled throughout the United States with their first three children in a travel trailer, stopping to work at various places along the way. She and her husband were residents of Townsend, MA from 1948 until 1988 when they moved to Jaffrey, NH. Robert died on August 22, 1989, and in 2008 “Millie” moved to Nashoba Park in Ayer, MA. She lived in Leominster for the past three years. During the forty years spent in Townsend, she and her husband Bob raised six children. Millie sewed doll clothes at home for the Totsy Manufacturing Company and later worked as head of housekeeping at the former Nashoba Valley Community Hospital. During her time in Jaffrey, she delivered “Meals on Wheels” and was a Hospice volunteer. She also knitted sweaters for a charitable organization which provided them to children throughout the world. At the age of seventy, she rode with her grandson on his motorcycle through Canada and on to Minnesota. Mille was known as “Raggedy Ann”; she made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for her children and grandchildren. She was Raggedy Ann on the Friends of Seniors float during Townsend’s 275th anniversary celebration parade. She also dressed as Raggedy Ann every summer at the annual family gathering at Seven Maples Campground in Hancock, NH. Survivors include her four daughters, Sandra Tuttle of Townsend, Cheryl Glow and husband David of Pepperell, MA, Doris Cormier and husband Kevin of Leominster, MA and Pamela McCorquodale of Royalston, MA; two sons, Russell Moore and wife Marjorie of Townsend and Steven Moore and wife Carol of Milford, NH; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister Constance Valley of Westford, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the New England Home for Little Wanderers, Development Department, 271 Huntington Avenue 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02115

There will be no calling hours and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
