Paul Holmes Bradley

Paul H. Bradley, a long time Jaffrey resident, died Monday October 19 following a severe heart attack. Born in New York City in 1946 to George Goodnow Bradley and Oenia Payne Bradley, he grew up in Great Neck, Long Island, for his early childhood. Following the death of his mother, his father married Mary MacDougall and the family moved to Sudbury, Massachusetts, in 1956. He attended Sudbury schools and graduated high school from Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, in 1964. He graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, in 1969 with a BS in Chemistry and began working as a systems analyst at Ionics Inc. in Watertown, Massachusetts, before moving on to the MITRE Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts.
To pursue his passion for sailing he moved to Maine in 1975 where he obtained his captains license, was engaged in the building of sailboats, and moored his own sailboat, the Northstar, in Rockport Harbor. In 1977 he married Carol Isakes and settled in Rockport, Maine, was subsequently divorced, and eventually moved back to Massachusetts to work once again as a systems analyst for the MITRE Corporation. He met Karla Rozek over Labor Day weekend in 1985 and they were married on July 3 the following summer. Paul, Karla, and Karlas two children by a previous marriage, Jennifer Tremblay and Andrew Tremblay, moved to Gilmore Pond in Jaffrey, where Paul and his family had summered all his life.
In Jaffrey, Paul worked as a finish carpenter and as a part time computer systems consultant. He was active in the community and the Gilmore Pond Association, and he coached Bambino and Babe Ruth baseball for eight years. He was also very active in the Native American community sponsoring teaching lodges, sweat lodges, and drumming circles at his home. For many years he was actively engaged with the New England Sound Healers (now the Sound Healers Association). He was an avid sailor, a fine tennis player, an excellent skier, and a solid hiker; and over the last several years he became a champion blueberry picker, especially on Gap Mountain.
Paul leaves his wife Karla Bradley, his two stepchildren Jennifer Tremblay of Keene, New Hampshire, and Andrew Tremblay of Seattle, Washington, his two grandchildren Brianna and Derek Tremblay, his sister Sally Presser of Point Richmond, California, his brother Stephen Bradley of Lexington, Massachusetts and Jaffrey, New Hampshire, his nephew Gerrit Bradley of Swampscott, Massachusetts and Jaffrey, New Hampshire, and his niece Jessica Bradley-Durkin of Beverley, Massachusetts and Jaffrey New Hampshire.

There will be a private burial service in the Phillips Cemetery in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, on Saturday,October 31.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 1 pm at the First Church in Jaffrey, 14 Laban Ainsworth Way, Jaffrey Center, New Hampshire, followed by a reception at a location to be announced
