Pauline E. Lyndes, 86, of School Street in Jaffrey died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Pheasantwood Rehabilitation Center in Peterborough with her loving family by her side, after a period of failing health.

Mrs. Lyndes was born on July 12, 1924 in Reed Plantation, Maine, daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Howe) Carroll. She was a 1942 graduate of Danforth (ME) High School. Mrs. Lyndes moved to Lisbon, NH in 1953 where she lived until moving to Sugar Hill in 1959. For more than 30 years Mrs. Lyndes enjoyed being a housekeeper for several families in the Sugar Hill area and she only retired in 2007 after she moved to Jaffrey to live with her daughter when her health began to decline. Through the years, she loved any time she could spend outdoors, whether it was hiking, biking, or skiing, and she especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lyndes was preceded in death by a sister and step-brother

Mrs. Lyndes is survived by her 2 sons, Rodney Lyndes of Jaffrey, NH and Ernest Lyndes of Lisbon, NH; her daughter Carleen and her husband Art DeToro of Jaffrey, NH; her 4 grandchildren; her 2 great-grandchildren; her sister Pearl and her husband Phil Butler of Hermon, ME; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, cousins and close friends.

A graveside service will be held at the family lot in Danforth Cemetery in Danforth, ME at their convenience.
