Philip R. Powley, 59, of Main Street, Harrisville died peacefully on Saturday December 8, 2012 in West Roxbury MA surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 4, 1953 in Winchendon, MA the son of Robert and Marie (Helie) Powley. His formative years were spent in Rindge where he graduated from Conant High School in Jaffrey with the class of 1971. Following high school he had attended various art schools in Boston. Philip has been a resident of Harrisville for the past 20 years. At the time of his death he was working as a self employed contractor in the greater Monadnock area. Previously he had worked as a chef at Beech Hill Hospital in Dublin and also had cooked for the Applewood Chamber Players in Nelson. During high school he worked at the Old Forge in Rindge Philip was an amazing and naturally gifted artist. He was also a landscape artist with a great sense of design, which showed in his amazing flowers gardens. He truly had a green thumb. He loved animals and especially dogs. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, drums and singing. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Marie and Ronald Quinlan of Rindge; his brother James E. Powley of Harrisville; his two sisters Sheila P. McCabe of Arlington MA and Carol L. Powley of West Swanzey, NH; a niece Martina Powley and a nephew Matthew James Powley; and his beloved dog “Murphy”.

Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Good Neighbor Fund, Post Office Box 486, Jaffrey NH 03452.

As per his request, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor, will officiate.
