Phyllis Hosmer Ames

April 11, 1929 — May 24, 2011

Phyllis Hosmer Ames, 82, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough.

Phyllis was born on April 11, 1929 and was adopted and cherished by Clarence and Edith Hosmer of West Newton, MA. She was a graduate of Lasell College and worked for many years as a RN at Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham, MA.

She and her husband Bob were able to live their dream. Upon retirement they moved to Rindge where they had spent many summers together. She was very active in the community and made many friends especially within the Rindge Church. Her lifes work was dedication to and love of her family, her unshakable faith and love of God and all his creations, and efforts to make this world a better place for all.

She leaves her four children; Sharon, Scott, Shelley and Sheila and their respective spouses; Peter Farnum, Ronda Ames, Howard Kelley and Melvin Pierce. She also leaves her beloved cousin Ellen Gadegaard, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her friend of 40 years; Susan Campbell. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Bliss (Bob) Ames.

Phyllis will be sadly missed by her family and many others whose lives she has been a part of. Her family would like to thank all her friends at Summerhill who provided such tender loving care of Phyllis.

A memorial service will be held at the Rindge Congregational Church on Saturday, June 4th at 11:00 AM.
