Randyl 'Randy' Christian

October 17, 1952 — March 1, 2011

Randyl ‘Randy’ M. Christian, 58, of New Ipswich and formerly of Jaffrey, NH, died suddenly Tuesday, March 1, 2011 after a period of failing health.

He was born on October 17, 1952 in Peterborough, NH, son of the late Maurice J. and Alice R (Proulx) Christian.  He graduated from Conant High School in 1971.

Randy had served the Town of Jaffrey in many capacities while working for the Public Works Department.   He became proficient in all of the major divisions; Highway, Water and Sewer through his many years there.  He also enjoyed helping Atlas Fireworks during their busiest times and at numerous shows throughout New England.

Randy had developed several nicknames like ‘Ducky’ and ‘Quagmire’ which represented different adventures while out hunting and fishing with friends when he was younger.  Later he became a very active member of the Monadnock Rod & Gun Club in Jaffrey.  His greatest thrill was being the organizer of the annual children’s fishing derby, and being there teaching kids how to fish and enjoy the thrill of landing a big fish.  Randy also helped the children in the area by filling Christmas Stockings for as many as possible each year.  He was a regular participant in the annual ice fishing derby on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Randy had served in the John Humiston VFW Post #5613 Color Guard for many years and he was an avid NASCAR fan.  Every weekend during racing season, he could be found watching the races with his friends in the VFW lounge.  Randy always loved telling a good story or joke and will be affectionately remembered for having the best and loudest laugh in the room.

Randy is survived by his sister Sandra Scartissi of Braintree, MA; his niece Dawn Clouse of Braintree, MA; his nephew Darren Scartissi of Weymouth, MA; his former wife and dear friend, Deborah Hanson of Peterborough, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

There will be no calling hours or formal funeral services at this time.

A Celebration of Randy's life will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Jaffrey Memorial Post #5613 VFW, Hathorn Road, Jaffrey
